Quiet November
Just a quick word (to get at least one entry for the month of November) wishing folks a great weekend this Thanksgiving 2014!
Bindlegrim is apparently still recuperating from Halloween. And while there is a hope that something may get released for the 2014 Christmas season... the creative embers are burning fairly cold from exhaustion of squeezing in this little hobby with the world of reality. News will post here in event of any changes and/or releases of product.
Happy Holidays!

Grim Goods for a Halloween Trunk Show
A bit of last minute art from the Bindlegrim lab is making its way to the Halloween Trunk Show #9, in addition to all the original Spooklight characters (witch, devil, black cat and bogle) that will be available at the Bindlegrim booth. This time the German-style Jack O'Lanterns have taken center stage, attired in some early century garb.... for Harvest Moon (with versions of the artwork available on 4-sided pendant shades as well as a special limited-edition of 6 artist-signed 12-sided lanterns), pics below...
Bindlegrim's October Schedule:
- October 11 - Halloween Trunk Show #9
- October 17 - Deadline to order Bindlegoods for Halloween 2014.
(Shop closes for the autumn season) - October 31- Happy Hallowe'en!

October
Just a little autumnal whimsy (vintage-style) on the eve of October... (as Bindlegrim tinkers with some additional imagery perhaps for some lanterns going to The Halloween Trunk Show #9). Lots of activity here in the studio preparing for that show and the Bindlegoods seasonal hiatus (taking final orders for Halloween 2014 no later than October 17th)
A very happy 31 days of Hallowe'en everyone!

Halloween Trunk Show 9
LRaise your spirits this autumn in the Rockies with whispering golden aspens, historic Colorado ghost towns, and the 9th annual Halloween Trunk Show in Denver, Oct 11th.
Bindlegrim will be there, and was honored to once again have an opportunity creating graphics for this year's event, the ninth! Postcards should be mailing soon, and there was an additional order for some posters of the front image (below)... (which perhaps may find their way as door prizes at the event...? We shall see...)

The ol' grim one is scheming, and packing up a large bindle of goods for the show - lanterns, cards, books, and the newest creations like the eight-limbed monster votive, and a lantern wall hook. And while some of the free goodies (running low) were pulled from Bindlegoods to make sure stock was available for Denver - all purchased orders from the website will still be honored in the meantime. Please also note that the Bindlegoods online store will cease shipping Spooklights for the current season around mid-October (to ensure all orders are out the door before the Halloween holiday) so please plan orders early... or see you at the show!!!

Updates on Bindlegood's Spooklights
A quick update on what's happening on Bindlegoods:
The newest addition to the Spooklights line, this "haunted tree" lamp base (candlestick) is now available (picture below). Just like the previous base (featuring a trick-or-treat scene) this will also pair perfectly with the lamp shade (pendant lamp cover).

The second item (not quite ready) is this monster candle-votive that is a hybrid of German-style Halloween lanterns that has morphed at bottom into a creature that now stands on eight legs. The images here show the first test offering a giant eyeball... although I'm not sure I'm quite pleased with this as a pane option. News to follow - on facebook, twitter, and on the online store Bindlegoods.

Goodnight Sweet Creeps
Thank you again all who stopped by Bindlegrim's 2nd annual summer sale and helped find new homes for all those wayward Creeps! It was great seeing original Bindlegrim buyers, and new alike catching these sales. And I got a nice surprise this year seeing one of the proto-type Spooklights (care of Horrid Decor) hang-out with new and vintage Halloween in the new owner's photograph!
It was especially gratifying because the Creeps had such a late birth last year (days even before the holiday arrived) so it feels good to know they will share there glow this year in Halloween across the states. That's why I wanted to get the Spooklights out early this year, and so happy to see many were already grabbed by early decorators. I'm working as fast I can to get the full line created, and as of this week should see a couple more designs hit the Bindlegoods store - the tree lamp base, and the octopi votive.
In the meantime, I have been having fun with some graphics for the upcoming Halloween Trunk Show that occurs in Denver every year - this year is the 9th...! More details to follow...!

Farewell to Summer (Sale Final Week)
A gargantuous thank-you to all who attended this year's online summer sale of Bindlegrim's past designs 2013, and to those who shared with others... much appreciated...! Wrapping up the last week this Sunday August 10th, 2014 having bid farewell to much of the Creeps pictured below... except for the following:
1) Vintage-Style Halloween CREEPS #2/5 Silhouette Set Candy-Box Vellum-Eye Lantern
Vintage-style candy-container lanterns from the Creeps (Silhouette Version) #2/5 from a limited run of five signed and sealed during production. The same characters are also found on the 12-sided lantern in listing 2. The design features classic slot-and-tab containers to hold treats, and as an open-top box doubles in function as a lantern. I imagine these (in the photo I failed capture before all were sealed) set for a gruesome table of six at a cool ghoul Hallowe'en party. (You can see various photos of the Creeps here on flickr:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/30673837@N02/sets/72157632571946262/).
2) Vintage-Style Halloween CREEPS 2/5 Artist Signed 12-Pane Lantern Limited-Edition

The last available listing for this edition --- one vintage-style 12-sided lantern Creeps #2/5. If you've been keeping track of the 12-sided editions, this was #8 in the Bindlegrim series of lanterns (and was a special edition only for the 2013 year), with the panes inspired by the Creeps (Container-Lanterns). I imagine (again in that missed photo opportunity) this lantern hanging as centerpiece to the table of candy-boxes above listed. You can see various photos of the Creeps here on flickr:

Thank you again to all those who found new homes for the various Creeps (and other studio oddities) from the 2013 bindle of forgotten goods. I haven't a clue what will appear next year... but stay tuned for the new designs completing the Spooklight series at bindlegoods.bindlegrim.com. There's bound to be a few mysterious products that are created in the lab along the way... or perhaps even the remaining stock of Spooklights should they suffer discontinuing before next year's summer sale...

Grim Bindles (Past and Present)
Week three (of four) for the Bindlegrim sale - and this week really dug deep into the bindle for something old (cards from 2004), to something new (two one-off hybrid lanterns) all ending this coming Sunday August 3rd, 2014.
1) Vintage-Style HALLOWEEN 9 Card Series: ghosts, pumpkins, bats, haunted houses
Bindle' really scoured the crypt for this set created in 2004. The photo-collages feature original photography and digitally created elements. The background scenery followed a personal journey across the U.S. from the swamps and abandoned house of the Southeast, to the mysterious ghost towns and lonely deserts of the Southwest, to the spooky drizzle and moss-covered roofs of the Northwest. The ghost character was shot in studio, as were some of the props like German-esqe Jack O'Lanterns and bats, and later all was brought in the computer for an artistic integration. You can see more images in this earlier blog entry, or in this flickr set: Hallowe'en.
2) Vintage-Style Christmas WINTER LIGHTS 6 greeting cards, old electric decor
This listing is for vintage-style 8-sided lantern hybrid created to test Spooklights for Halloween 2014. The lantern panes are like those for the 12-sided lanterns (and therefore feature the pumpkin-and-leaf motif in the corners). The imagery was for the only non-limited run of lanterns from 2012 known as "The Horrid Decor" and this one features orange and black prints on vellum.
This listing is for the 2nd of two vintage-style 8-sided lantern hybrids created to test Spooklights. The lantern feature the pumpkin-and-leaf motif in the corners. The imagery derived from the only non-limited run of lanterns from 2012 known as "The Horrid Decor" and this one features blue and black prints on textured paper.

The imagery here of vintage Christmas lights dating from 1920's to the 1960's, and were photographed by the artist in the studio, with graphic design added later in graphic programs. Cards are approximately 4.25" wide by 5 1/2" tall. More images can be seen in this flickr set: Winter Lights.

Vanishing Creeps
Week two of the Bindlegrim sale - and already some items in the Creeps editions are sold out as I pack their bindles with care for cross-country travels literally coast to coast! Again, thank you to all who gathered for week one.
It actually appears that the Summer Lantern Sale might be something of a misnomer, as I seek to fill out some unexpected gaps in the coming weeks - but for you 12-sided lantern fiends (and I know there are a few) I do plan to list the last 12-sided Creeps lantern in the final fourth week.
As I pull together some oddities for week three, here's a quick review of what is currently up for grabs in the second week ending Sunday, July 26th.
1) Vintage-Style Christmas SPIRITS #5/5 Artist Signed Set KRINGLE, FROST, & KRAMPUS
This listing is for the last full set of vintage-style candy-container lanterns from Spirits, a 5/5 limited edition set of three characters designed, printed, and diecut in the artist's studio. While a couple of characters may show up solo, this is the last of the Krampus characters available.
This is the fifth in an edition of five packaged sets - each character is signed, and the package insert is numbered #5/5.
2) Vintage-Style Easter Greetings TO THE HUNT #4/10 Artist Signed Postcard & Folio
Since Bindlegrim reached outside of the Hallowe'en norm for the above Christmas listing... this Easter card was also included to bring in a little more cheer, albeit slightly twisted once again. This print postcard was limited to a run of only ten cards, each with a peek-a-boo folio. This card is signed and numberd #4/10.
This is the 2/2 set of artist proofs created before the final 5/5 run of "soot-faced" Creeps. I cannot fully recollect why this set was created before the final packaged sets, but I believe it must have had to do with the direction of the dies upon the 2-ply museum board (since the die cutting process actually gives a subtle front and back edge to the paper). In any case, unlike the 1/2 set sold off the previous year, the 2/2 set was never even bent into shape... as shown here standing at full attentive display in this old crate.
With Bindlegrim's 2013 lantern stock rapidly vanishing - I continued to grab up a few other items for the sale... and thought it fun to gather a collection of printed goodies. This lot contains the following:
1) On Stranger Winds - Tall Tales for Shorter Days: a signed copy of the book with the newer matte cover (which I love much better than previous editions for its soft touch). The book is a collection of stories and poems (and was a winner of the New Mexico Book Awards in 2013 in the Sci-Fi/Fantasy category). Cover art by David Irvine (aka The Gnarled Branch).

2) Cornish Litany
cards, 2011, has a limited number #/25 of signed cards. Both here are
numbered #6/25. These postcards are artist reprints of the original art that was commissioned by Cornish Litany fanatic
Debra Mesiter: A Litany... Cornish and Otherwise.
3) Cornish Litany cards, 2012. This set was originally release with a (sold-out) 12-sided Cornish Litany lantern that contained the same imagery.
4) One set of 4 Hallowe'en cards from the new Spooklights lanterns by Bindlegrim. Un-signed from a moderate run of 100 sets.
Thank you once again to all for considering these items for your Halloween bindle. Stay tuned for week 3 starting this Sunday, the 26th.
