#13: The Fates for Summer 2025

Arriving for Summer 2025 there is a new Bindlegrim Halloween 12-side collapsible  German-style lantern (#13 - The Fates) seen most recently on @Bindlegrim (IG). This one will have an edition of seven - and unusually combines both lighting with a fortune game.

The lantern continues the Bindlegrim limited-edition series of industrial-method panels made of sturdy 2-ply museum board that reveals laser-print vellum panes - made in mind of no-heat LED lights or small battery candles.As for the fortunes there are six pre-told visions that slip into the bottom panes. These fortunes were penned by Bindlegrim under divine inspiration from The Fates - so he takes no responsibility for their snarky witchery!

By the way, about the imagery... while two of the faces were directly inspired by Gibson Art Co. (and givewn some artistic embellishments by Bindlegrim) Halloween collectors will notice six different expressions. Bindlegrim expanded upon her apparent acting repertoire to include the basic human expressions which some theorize to include anger, disgust, fear, happiness, sadness, and surprise. (The original Gibson witch seems to have felt happiness and disgust).

Bindlegrim lantern 2025 - #13 The Fates w/fortunes.

Bindlegrim is producing these right now - clearing up a few snags along the way - but expects these arriving soon for sale on the Bindlegrim etsy shop, likely along with some older Bindlegrim from the past which may be in stock still. Some of the older designs are seen on this blog and @bindlegrim on Instagram.

By the way, have you been keeping up with Bindlegrim these past couple of year? Bindlegrim recently created for THR some industrial style vintage products (below) based on 1940's faux stained glass window products. The new items are true to the general feel of vintage pieces, but cannot be mistaken as such (as with other Bindlegrim productions) due to a deliberate difference in size, imagery, color, and production.  Much like the lantern (above) the windows are made of 2-ply museum board but with in this case use colored tissue paper. For more images see THR's website or THR's online book shop (or even via Instagram @halloweenretrospecs), but note Bindledgrim is not selling these - they are free with a copy of THR's newest edition of research from its archive library publications on Etsy.

Short, Sharp, Stocked (no longer)

As announced earlier today on the Bindlegrim facebook page it was cleaning day in the studio (beneath monsoon skies) and a few items (the last of their kind) were gathered up for an official 3rd annual summer sale - see preview image below. Note this will be a very quick and small sale starting tomorrow (8-2-2015) finishing at the end of this one week of listings. End results of this sale will be used to fuel the 2015 releases which should be out the beginning of September!

The sale will at least include the last available of some items shown above: 1 package of 6 silhouette Creeps (2013), a 12-sided lantern "#9 - Harvest Moon" (2014), and a 12-sided lantern "#10 - Traditional Grim" (2014). More details will post very soon! 

Farewell to Summer (Sale Final Week)

A gargantuous thank-you to all who attended this year's online summer sale of Bindlegrim's past designs 2013, and to those who shared with others... much appreciated...! Wrapping up the last week this Sunday August 10th, 2014 having bid farewell to much of the Creeps pictured below... except for the following:

1) Vintage-Style Halloween CREEPS #2/5 Silhouette Set Candy-Box Vellum-Eye Lantern

Vintage-style candy-container lanterns from the Creeps (Silhouette Version) #2/5 from a limited run of five signed and sealed during production. The same characters are also found on the 12-sided lantern in listing 2. The design features classic slot-and-tab containers to hold treats, and as an open-top box doubles in function as a lantern. I imagine these (in the photo I failed capture before all were sealed) set for a gruesome table of six at a cool ghoul Hallowe'en party. (You can see various photos of the Creeps here on flickr:

2) Vintage-Style Halloween CREEPS 2/5 Artist Signed 12-Pane Lantern Limited-Edition

The last available listing for this edition --- one vintage-style 12-sided lantern Creeps #2/5. If you've been keeping track of the 12-sided editions, this was #8 in the Bindlegrim series of lanterns (and was a special edition only for the 2013 year), with the panes inspired by the Creeps (Container-Lanterns). I imagine (again in that missed photo opportunity) this lantern hanging as centerpiece to the table of candy-boxes above listed. You can see various photos of the Creeps here on flickr:

Thank you again to all those who found new homes for the various Creeps (and other studio oddities) from the 2013 bindle of forgotten goods. I haven't a clue what will appear next year... but stay tuned for the new designs completing the Spooklight series at bindlegoods.bindlegrim.com. There's bound to be a few mysterious products that are created in the lab along the way... or perhaps even the remaining stock of Spooklights should they suffer discontinuing before next year's summer sale...

Crawling Out of the Woodwork

As design materials for Halloween 2014 start filling up the workspace for the new Spooklights series, seems like a good time again for a sale... to bid a final farewell to the work of 2013, and here's just a quick revisit of some of the work that's been lurking about in the dark forgotten crevices of the studio (pictured below) here gussied up as an orange crepe-paper gift-basket of vintage-like goodies.

Perhaps you caught last year's summer sale that wiped-out the remainder of all 2012 six-sided lanterns? Well, I wasn't sure there would be enough from 2013 but, after some rummaging, discovered there are actually limited-edition packs and some artist-proof singles of Creeps (both candy-boxes and special edition 12-sided lantern), Spirits (candy-containers), Cornish Litany postcards, and signed copies of Tall Tales Stranger Days.

There is no definite date for the beginning of this, (which could perhaps be as soon as this Sunday the 13th). Stay tuned, and I'll do my best to get the message out through the various Bindlegrim channels - facebook, twitter, the newsletter, the blog here, and the news blog now on Bindlegoods.

Halloween Lantern Parade (Magic Number 3)

Following is Week 3 of 4, and the next to the last listings of Bindlegrim's 2012 studio stock of vintage-style lanterns.  If you're looking for good Bindlegrim buys these just might be the 2 weeks to watch -- as I think things usually go for less on the tail end of an auction string...(?) and with some of the last of these being repeats, of final stock, a good deal could yet be had...!

1: The Cornish Litany (From Ghoulies and Ghosties and Long-leggety Beasties and All Things that go Bump in the Night, Good Lord deliver us!) Lantern (orange) with 12 postcards included, features a host of scary characters in gothic settings terrorizing people. Bindlegrim began work on Cornish Litany imagery in 2011 seen in Meister's collection "A Litany... Cornish and Otherwise": CORNISH LITANY vintage style LANTERN (Orange/Black) & 12 POSTCARD SET Bindlegrim

2: The Pumpkin Patch (in red) was created with a focus on vine and leaf motifs to closely merge with the leaf and pumpkin design of the frame. The scene is midnight, deep in the brambles of the pumpkin patch, crawling with a number of spooky creatures staring back at you. 3: The Space Witches: (last one #3/5) - The imagery for this lantern was based on Fifties plastic candy containers of witches and rockets, expanded to see what happens when witches (and their cats) reach outer space - like white mice running loose inside your space helmet - or what if your cat gets stuck on the moon?! It's a cyclonic cavalcade of electrifying horror! (A personal fave - I did a poor job of letting these go last year). Halloween Lantern Parade (week 2)

The first set of lanterns have vanished around the corner - and here comes the next parade participants of week 2. (Following is more from the summer lantern sale liquidating Bindlegrim's studio stock of vintage-style 2012 lanterns.

But first, how about some decorating ideas with black crepe paper and a Bindlegrim lantern, displayed for autumn with rusty antique objects, surplus wooden boxes, vintage lighting,  and an authentic early century paper Jack O'Lantern pumpkin?

 

Lantern pictured above is from Series #6 The Horrid Decor, #2 Pus & Bruise on Ghost Skin (unsold on Etsy, now in the permanent collection of the artist). However, there is another one of these designs listed this week in Hitchcock Blue on Ghost Skin (see below).
